    Common questions

How long does it take to recharge the batteries?

Between 6 and 24 hours, depending on the level of discharge.

    What is the Search Mode?

Search Mode progressively increases position sampling frequency as vessels approach the buoys for recovery, balancing tracking precision with Iridium communication costs.

What are the costs of operating Offshore buoys?

Offshore Nomads use customised Iridium plans tailored to individual customer needs. The standard plan is 55 € activation + 27 €/month for 600 communications.

Can I add additional sensors to the buoy?

Barometric pressure and water temperature are standard additions. Contact SouthTEK for other sensor options.

Where can I use the Offshore Nomad?

Offshore Nomads operate anywhere on Earth thanks to Iridium global coverage.
